Tungnath trek is one of the most beautiful trekking places in India. Located in the Chamoli district of Uttarakhand. The elevation is about 3,680 meters above sea level. Tungnath Chopta Trek is one such place, which is a must-visit once in life.

Tungnath is the third in the pecking order of the Panch Kedar. Tungnath is one of my favorite trekking places. If you are also a nature lover then this place is best for you.

You can come here anytime during the year. The Tungnath temple is open only from April to November. But it is open for tracking throughout the year.

History of Tungnath Temple 

When the Kauravas were destroyed by the Pandavas, it was a sin of brother murder. Lord Shiva became angry with the Pandavas for this reason. Tungnath temple is believed to have been built by the Pandavas to please Lord Shiva.

The main credit for the construction of this temple goes to "Arjuna". Who was one of the Panch Pandavas.

Best time to visit Tungnath and Chandrashila

The best time to visit Tungnath is from April to September. In the rainy season, there is a problem with road blocks due to landslides.

You can trek on the Chandrashila trek anytime throughout the year. But if you want to enjoy snowfall, then you can go between December to March. A beautiful view of the Himalayas is seen from here.

How to reach Chandrashila Chopta trek

Chandrashila Chopta Trek is located in Chamoli district Uttarakhand. Rishikesh is the preliminary point of the Chopta Chandrashila trek which is easily accessible by road and rail. Chopta is a village located some 71km from Rudraprayag and 254 km from Rishikesh and approximately 451 km from the capital Delhi. 

Jolly Grant Dehradun is the nearest airport, Chopta is about 205 kilometers from here.
